Combine a fun art and craft activity with fine motor development with this simple pom pom autumn tree painting. This activity is a great way to spark discussions about Autumn and seasons change with early years whilst they get crafty! It is also a great way for your little ones to practice their pincer grip, strengthen their hand muscles and develop their hand eye coordination as they use the tweezers to dap the pom poms onto the picture.

Art materials you will need:

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Start by drawing your tree trunk onto a piece of card or paper with your colouring pencils. Add as many branches as you like
  2. Next decant some paint into a pot - we went for orange, red and yellow
  3. Then, encourage your little ones to use a tweezer to pick up a pom pom and dip it in the paint
  4. Using the paint covered pom pom - dab your tree to add leaves
  5. Repeat this process over and over with the different coloured paints until you have a tree full of leaves.
  6. Add any other decorations to your image such as green grass or a layer of fallen leaves and you're done!
