How To Make Leafy Ghosts for Halloween Crafts

With Halloween just around the corner and the colourful Autumn leaves beginning to fall, why not get crafty with leaves and engage the children in some Autumn DIY. So when you’re next out on a brisk Autumn nature walk, take a bag with you to collect some leaves and turn them into an array of friendly ghosts when you get back – perfect for a spooktacular Halloween display!

Three white maple leaves are painted white with black eyes.

Materials you will need:

To make these Leafy Ghosts, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Gather your leaves, making sure they are clean and dry.
  2. Paint the leaves all over with white paint. You can paint both sides of the leaf if you like and leave them to dry.
  3. When the paint is completely dry, draw on a ghostly face using either a thick, black marker pen or a little black paint and a thin paintbrush.
  4. To display your leaf ghosts, you could string them up in a banner or scatter them around a pumpkin!

Tips:

We have used Maple leaves for our ghosts, as the shape of the leaf gives the ghosts some arms - but this idea works well on any shaped leaf!
