Pattern and Sequence

A pattern is a mathematical concept relating to the arrangement of objects and things. The main component of a pattern is the rules associated with it. Pattern resources help early years children identify the rule in a sequence and understand why something is considered a pattern. 

EYFS pattern resources help children understand how to apply rules to mathematics and form the foundation for maths learning for key areas including recall of counting sequence and number operations. Outside of mathematics these types of resources help to develop problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
